Successful Delivery of an Extra-Large Vertical Tenon Broaching Machine

Recently, HUNAN NANFANG MACHINE TOOL CO., LTD. successfully completed the final customer acceptance of its independently developed Extra-Large Vertical Tenon Broaching Machine, marking a significant breakthrough in precision machining equipment for large-scale tenon applications. Designed primarily for high-end manufacturing sectors such as aerospace and energy equipment, the machine is capable of high-precision tenon broaching for critical components including engine turbine disks and gas turbine disks.

After more than two years of development, manufacturing, installation, and on-site commissioning, the machine stands approximately 11 meters high and weighs around 160 tons. Featuring a high-rigidity structure and an innovative C-type cradle worktable, it can broach tenons on ultra-large turbine disks with diameters of up to 2,500 mm. The machine is equipped with independently developed automatic broach-changing and tool-change control technologies. Intelligent tool-path planning and digital control further enhance tool-change efficiency, machining stability, and overall production efficiency.

At the customer’s site, the Nanfang Machine Tool technical team completed foundation leveling, machine installation, geometric accuracy inspection, CNC system commissioning, no-load testing, and load cutting tests. Multiple rounds of process optimization were also conducted using the customer’s typical workpieces. Ultimately, key performance indicators, including tenon dimensional accuracy, surface roughness, and cumulative pitch error, met or exceeded the customer’s technical requirements. The team also completed comprehensive training on machine operation and maintenance.
